Inspection Services

KFS regularly conduct inspections & assessments to provide detailed reports for clients across the built environment.

KFS regularly conduct inspections and assessments to provide detailed reports for clients across the built environment. Our range of inspections consider all aspects of fire safety within the premises and set out what actions should be taken to keep occupants safe.

There are a host of issues (large and small) that can impact, to varying degrees, the standard of fire safety in a building.

However once these are assessed, our competent and knowledgeable team can develop cost effective and workable recommendations should any issue arise and plan a systematic approach for prioritising objectives to eliminate or reduce any perceived risks.

KFS conduct inspections and provide detailed reports for clients across the built environment offering structured and pragmatic guidance so they can remain confident that their premises will remain at the very highest of fire safety standards.

Inspections can comprise a close examination of all relevant documents and of the premises’ condition itself; our fire safety inspections can ascertain how fire safety is being implemented and managed and if all relevant factors are in compliance with appropriate standards and regulations.

Concise and actionable reports will be provided and where necessary, challenges will be made to current scenarios in order to make suitable recommendations for improving safety levels, but you will find our advice is always honest, impartial and a thorough assessment of the current standards of fire safety in your building.

Regular inspections can be seen as time consuming, complex and often require specialist knowledge and opinion. Our Inspections Team are dedicated to keeping you, your employees and visitors to your premises safe by conducting a range of applicable investigations.

With the extensive capabilities of our engineers and fire safety professionals, we are able to deliver a complete range of inspection services including:

EWS1 Forms

In residential tower blocks, mortgage lenders will often request an External Wall System (EWS) Form as part of a mortgage application.

The form, referred to as an EWS1 uses the PAS 9980 methodology and must be signed by a competent person, sometimes this is a Chartered Fire Engineer.

We have been working with landlords since the form’s inception and continue to offer this critical service.

Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEW)

For residential buildings, the recently introduced Fire Safety Act clarified the need to consider the external wall in your fire risk assessment and where required, for a risk appraisal of the external wall to be completed in accordance with PAS 9980.

Passive Fire Safety Inspections

Passive fire safety construction in your premises creates separation between the escape routes and the occupied areas. This separation ensures that in a fire, you can still escape safely.

Whether as part of a new build project, or in an existing building where you want to confirm the suitability of the fire safety compartmentation, inspections will provide assurance of your passive fire protection.

Construction Fire Risk Assessment

KFS work closely with contractors to provide an independent, third party assurance that through-out the construction phase the specified standards of fire safety remain in place, in turn reducing the risk of costly delays at completion and handover.

After construction or refurbishment, and when a building is brought into use, Regulation 38 provides the framework for how the fire safety design information is supplied to the building’s owner or occupier.
